Helping Out in the Classroom

Many parents have often asked, "How can I help out or spend some time in the classroom?"

We have lots of wonderful options that you may find interesting!

-Mystery Reader
You can come into the classroom and read a book to the students.  The name of the Mystery Reader will not be announced!  Students get very excited for this and books can be read in either Spanish or English.

-Addition and Subtraction Flash Cards
On Friday mornings at 9:30AM the students work on math journal and math activity pages with myself and Sra. Alonzo.  Parents can come in and work with two groups on + and - fact flash cards.  Each group will work with the parent for roughly 15 minutes.

-Holiday/Seasonal Craft
You can plan, supply, and instruct the class on a holiday or seasonal craft of your choice!

-Centers/Reading Fluency Support (for Spanish speakers)
If you speak Spanish fluently or are at a near-fluent level, we invite you to come in on Mondays-Thursdays at 2:00pm to support groups with center work or Spanish Reading Fluency passages!

-Lesson Instruction (For those with a background in Education)
If you have a background in Education and would like to come in and do a lesson with our class, we would be more than happy to have you!  We can work together to come up with the perfect lesson and activity that fits the Grade 2 Common Core Standards or our Social Studies/Science curriculum!

-Room Parent
A Room Parent can come in on a bi-weekly or monthly basis to help out with copying!
